alcohol detox

Alcohol detox and drug detox are available at The Center for Dual Diagnosis Treatment drug rehab program for professionals. Upon first contact by telephone to The Center for Dual Diagnosis Treatment staff, you will be given an assessment to determine if you require alcohol or drug detox services as a part of your individualized treatment plan. Not all clients that enter a drug rehab program require alcohol detox or drug detox with medication. The general rule is that the greater the age and levels of usage, the greater the need for alcohol detox or drug detox. Persons that drink daily to excess may require alcohol detox with medication. This is to ensure medical stability and safety during alcohol detox and drug detox. The daily use of pain medication or anxiolytics such as codeine, Valium, xanax, kolonopin, and other medications may necessitate drug detox. Persons that do not drug or use daily yet still have a problem may not require alcohol detox or drug detox as part of a drug rehab program.

Depending on many factors, alcohol detox or drug detox phase of a drug treatment program may last from 3 to 14 days. Medications administered for alcohol detox and drug detox vary and are required to ensure safety and comfort during detox. Upon completion of alcohol detox or drug detox, clients may begin residential or outpatient treatment.

It must be noted that drug detox or alcohol detox alone does not constitute a drug rehab program. Alcohol and drug problems are not cured by detoxification. It is important to address underlying issues that led to the problem. Alcohol and drug use is often a sign of other issues. It is said that when people use drugs and alcohol that they are self medicating. Statistics show that those who detox and don’t follow up with some kind of drug rehab program have a very small chance of succeeding. Those that continue after detox to complete some form of treatment tend to find success in recovery and are able to remain abstinent for longer periods of time.
